The brief

Digital is a key touchpoint for the people PACT support but with an old inflexible CMS, a big accessibility issue and a navigation tailored to their internal team, not their primary users, their existing website was a hindrance rather than a help. They partnered with us to reimagine their website into a more useable, visible and shareable asset for their organisation.

The objectives

Our partnership with PACT had three core objectives that would help transform their online presence. First, to move away from the existing CMS, which was template reliant and inflexible and replace it with a platform capable of growing and changing alongside their organisation.

The next objective was to improve their website’s accessibility. This was especially important for PACT as they collaborate with many different public bodies who have strict accessibility standards for the website’s they link out to and share. Without making considerable accessibility improvements, PACT’s digital experience would jeopardise their ability to effectively service key audiences.

Finally, the third objective for PACT was to improve their search engine optimisation, GDPR compliance, website responsiveness, and navigation. In short, we needed to bring PACT’s digital footprint in-line with industry best practices to ensure it delivered a better user experience and greater visibility on search engine results pages.

What we did

We re-platformed the PACT website onto Umbraco, to achieve the flexibility and scalability they needed to make their website work for them both now, and in the future. The content on the website was re-organised and re-structured from an end-user perspective, ensuring the right content was surfaced in the right way, at the right time. We took a mobile accessibility first approach to the designs, ensuring not only that the mobile experience was amazing, but that those all-important accessibility improvements were factoring in from the start. We added accessibility features like supporting navigation via the keyboard, ARIA mark-up and high-level zoom capabilities.

We fully integrated the website with not one, but two payment gateways, Stripe and WorldPay, which allowed PACT to offer a direct debit payment option to their end users. Live translation options were facilitated through an integration with G-translate.io and of course, the PACT brand was brought to life online in a clean, vibrant and creative way.

quote

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the team for your work on the new website. You were extremely helpful during the last few months of last year when I was more closely involved. The main thing that stands out is that every time I thought we had hit a problem, you always found a solution quickly and efficiently. I didn’t have a lot of experience in this area, so it was hugely reassuring to know that you were 100% on top of things and that I could have complete confidence in you and the team. Pixelbuilders were a little more expensive than some of the other bids that came back but it was money very well spent as far as I’m concerned.
