Operating in a highly competitive market, with a comprehensive product catalogue and a Black Friday Sale deadline to beat, it was time to make sure their digital footprint measured up.

The objective

The team at Everyday Blinds asked us to design and build a brand-new business to consumer ecommerce website, using the Umbraco CMS and their built in Umbraco Commerce package.

It had to be extremely user friendly, maximise ecommerce best practices and empower their brand to stand out in a highly saturated retail market. With big plans, it was also key that the website we created could grow alongside the business, and allow space for new ideas, more products and extra functionality and features. 

This project was all about setting Everyday Blinds up for success. Giving them an amazing B2C ecommerce experience capable of rivalling their established competitors.

What we did

If you’ve read our Commercial Director Martin Oates’s recent blog on the importance of doing your digital discovery, then you’ll know it almost goes without saying, that we kick started this project with a series of collaborative discovery sessions to fully understand the client, their ambitions for the website and the unique features of their complex product range. 

We also worked closely with their chosen blind manufacturer too, to implement a smooth Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integration that could support data transfer, ensuring product order details were promptly and accurately shared between the two systems. This integration created a solid foundation for reliable order processing, vital not only for business efficiency but customer satisfaction too. 

Umbraco Commerce that works smarter, not harder

As well as an EDI integration, we also integrated Everyday Blinds’ Umbraco site with Stripe, Klarna, ApplePay and GooglePay to empower customers to transact seamlessly across any device. An integration with Loqate supported real-time, type-ahead address lookups, which we used to reduce friction in the checkout journey and last, but by no means least, a Mailchimp integration collects opted-in customer data, to support GDPR compliant onboarding emails, remarketing emails and campaign emails, generating brand awareness, driving sales and supporting key business goals.

A price that’s always right

There are plenty of reasons why we chose the Umbraco CMS for this project. One is due to Umbraco’s ability to seamlessly and flexibly integrate with all the different platforms partners we knew the project needed, to support a successful user experience. Another is because of Umbraco Commerce and Umbraco Forms, both of which were also key platform features for this project.

Umbraco Commerce, thanks to its innovative built-in functionality, allowed us to easily override the standard pricing model and replace it with our own bespoke, advanced pricing model. This supported flexible product pricing based both on pricing grids and product options, so the customer was always given the right price, at the right time, for the right product.  And speaking of products, an automatic product import feature, allowed efficient product inventory updates so new stock could easily be made available online.
