The brief
As forward-thinking experts in their field, pushing ahead with new sustainability initiatives and modern manufacturing methods, Plasmor needed a brand-new website that successfully communicated these innovations, and reflected their modern, future-facing and creative attitude across their most modern customer touchpoints: their website and social media.
The objectives
This was a digital project about modern thinking meeting modern platforms. The question was, how can we reflect the innovations happening in the business at Plasmor, in the platforms, technologies and channels they’re using to communicate with their customers.
That meant moving to a mobile first approach for their website. It required a new site structure that was better balanced between their products, their technical services and their future plans.
The user experience needed to be more intuitive, so customers can locate stockists faster, more easily and on any device. It needed to support their recruitment drive, to empower Plasmor to employ the people needed to bring their future plans to life and finally, it needed to be more visible across search and social, giving greater reach to their ideas and innovations.
What we did
We created a brand new, mobile first design for Plasmor’s website, that leveraged imagery to help tell their brand story, showcase their products and their applications and bring to life their green credentials and modern manufacturing methods.
The complete online user journey was reimagined, improving the user experience across desktop and mobile and this introduced some new and exciting features and functionality.
Umbraco foundations & interactive content blocks
Built on Umbraco, the website now boasts an interactive U-value calculator, allowing core user groups such as architects and specifiers to easily calculate the thermal performance of Plasmor blocks in different construction scenarios. An interactive map showcases Plasmor’s network of stockists and installers and a custom cursor highlights key content including their brand new, custom case studies.
Content mapping, optimisation and creation
Once the website was designed and built, we also supported Plasmor with reworking their historical site content to suit their new website. This included migrating all the best bits and core content from their existing site, such as their product inventory and downloads, as well as introducing new content elements including a full suite of detailed project case studies.
How did it perform?
The new Plasmor website launched ready for the start of 2023 and for the first time, the team at Plasmor had full access to website performance metrics. Since launch, that new website has achieved:
increase in pageviews in the second half of 2023 compared to the first
increase in average session duration in the second half of 2023 compared to the first
From day one, the team at Pixel Builders have been a pleasure to work with. During the redesign of our company website Martin, Oliver, Rachael and the team went above and beyond to ensure that our requirements were met. As a family run business, with strong family values, it was important to us that this was reflected in the look and feel of the website. The team were extremely knowledgeable, understanding and respectful of our requirements at all times. When emailed asking to update the website accordingly, requests were actioned promptly and monthly meetings via Teams were a great way of keeping both parties updated. Through guidance with Pixel Builders we were also able to establish a company presence on LinkedIn, going from 200 followers at the beginning to over 1400 followers in less than a year. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support from Rachael. We look forward to continuing and building our working relationship with Andrew and the team, as our website grows and evolves.
